Addon Settings

Video Transcript

The last item that I want to cover in the Admin’s Settings section is the added links or settings that pop into here when you install some plugins or themes.
You see, as you progress through these training modules and begin adding plugins and themes, you’re going to see that sometimes those plugins or themes will add their own settings links in the Settings section.

But they might just add themselves to another tab that’s more related to what that plugin actually does. For example, if that plugin does something to the images on your site, then if it’s not located in the Settings section, then the settings for that particular plugin might have ended up in the media section because it’s more related to the media or images that are going to be found within the media library. So the first thing I would do is look for the settings link for that particular plugin in the Settings section. Then if you don’t find it there, just start hovering over these items.

And in the fly-out, if you see the new item, there you go. And of course this is all in the event that the plugin itself doesn’t tell you where their settings link is going to be. Some of them do not even have additional settings links. It’s just you plug it in, activate it, and it does its job. That’s it. Or like the Loginizer security plugin that we installed during the WordPress installation, it created its own tab over here in the Admin’s sidebar. But just know that the Settings section may end up with more items than we began with when we first installed our WordPress site.

That’s the end of this quick video on the possible changes to expect within your Admin’s Settings section when installing new plugins or themes. Thanks for watching and you have a great day.
