What to do After Cleanup
Video Transcript
This class is going to show you how to use Google Search Console to let Google know that your site is now clean and safe for them to come on in, and reindex.
Now, this is going to be much quicker than just waiting around for the Google bots to show up, you know, whenever they get around to it. Plus, and more importantly, if Google plastered your site, or the search results for your site, with all those nasty warnings, this will get those taken down much quicker. The first thing is to have Google crawl your site. So if they see any lingering issues, you’re going to address them before you tell Google all is fixed. And to do that, we got a couple of steps to take care of first. First, you need to have your site connected with the Google Search Console. And we’ve covered that entire process in a completely different course.
So I’m not going to go into that here. But assuming that you do have your site connected to Google search, you need to log into your Google account, then go to search.google.com. And if you have several Google accounts, make sure that you’re on the one for the correct site. And you’ll know that by the property box appear in the top left corner. Next, you want to go ahead and put your site URL in the inspect any URL box up here at the top. And you want to make sure that you have the proper protocol being HTTPS, which I hope you have, or HTTP, if you don’t yet have the SSL thingy hooked up. And if you’re also using www dot your domain name, make sure you have that in there. If not, it will tell you what a good way to go. If you’re unsure, go to your website, and just copy the URL in the address bar. Because you know, that’s it, paste that right in here.
And in my case, it’s one that I clicked on this right here, and you get one of two results. The one that I’ve got that basically my URL is not indexed. And that’s mainly because this is a demo site that I’ve moved from host to host for different classes or and more than likely, you will have a green checkmark, that doesn’t really matter what shows up here, because that is not part of what I’m trying to get across to you here. What I want to show you is the security issues. By running that little inspection, you’ll get Google to say, Yep, you got some problems. And they are going to be listed right here. And by the way, while you are on the security issues page will appear to the circled question mark in the top toolbar, click on that. And that’ll open up a knowledge base section specific to the page that you’re on. And in this case, security issues report.
Instead of trying to read all this stuff in the scrunched up little box, scroll to the very bottom and click on the link that says open a new window, that’ll actually open it in a new tab, and just gives you more area to work with here, you’ve got a lot more reports in the right sidebar here. And you’ve got a written guide for the security issues report and a couple of videos. So definitely check this stuff out. If nothing else for additional information on things that I did not cover in previous classes. And if we scroll down here, further down, these are a goldmine of information. Because if you have not yet been able to get your site completely clean, even after having gone through all the steps we covered in previous classes, check these up. Each one of these tells you a type of issue related to your site being hacked.
And if this description fits your particular situation, they also give you some steps that you might want to take to get that fixed. And you’ve got those two videos too. So definitely worthy of a bookmark. Now that assuming that you do have gotten close this up here, assuming that you do not have any issues here, but Google does show that you have had issues and you’re gonna have a explanation on the security issues page and a button down at the bottom that you would then click on it says you got things fixed, and you’re requesting Google to come on over and check things out. I think the budget is something about request review or something like that. But you only want to click on that once you have everything fixed. And that’s going to bring us to the end of this class on using Google Search Console to let Google know that come on over and crawl your site after it has been hacked and cleaned up. Thanks for checking out this class and you have a great day
